increased levels of spam

Hi there,
I thought I'd check to see if other people are experiencing the same; the amount of spam I'm receiving is about four times the quantity I was recieving a fortnight ago. I'm not aware of giving out my email address in the last 6 months so this is a bit annoying. Also these emails are often in multiples, ie 6 of the exact same email. Has this happened to anybody else. I'm relectant to install a spam filter,

The amount varies so much arriving on mine I lose track. Yesterday there was 44 items of Spam, today 92. Fortunately BTYahoo filters these into a Bulk Folder away from the genuine stuff. A quick check to see if anything genuine had been diverted in there, then hit the delete button on the lot.
Saves a lot of hassle sorting otherwise.

why are you reluctant to install a spam filter?

Hi Skampydog,
I've had the emails prefixed with '***SPAM***' (I use Orange) sent to a spam folder in outlook express, but in the past genuine emails have been prefixed as spam and sent there as well. Can you recommend a filter?
