Hi FatMan , and welcome to the forum. I suspect your friend has O.E. set to "hide read" messages. Get him to try this , open O.E. and in the folders column highlight "inbox". Now on the toolbar click on "view" > current view > and tick "show all messages". When he next reads a new message it shouldn't go A.W.O.L. |

Hi fatman, got a wee puzzler here, it's not often that fifeflyer has to scratch his head. Can I suggest that you check your message rules to ansure that you have not set anything to delete mails from particular senders. Go tools>message rules>mail and make sure that nothing is ticked that should not be ticked (if you have not set up any rules, all tick boxes should be empty, especially the ones set to delete messages from specific sources after they have been read). |

I'm not convinced that it's OE. Those options appear in Outlook but not in OE. That said, I cannot see any reason why the emails should vanish when they have been read as I can only find 'hide read messages' in OE unless this is a new feature of Outlook 2007. FatMan - please could you describe what is actually happening. Where do the read emails disappear from, the folder or the preview pane (I assume you have preview pane open). Also, could you open his email program and select 'Help' > 'About' and then let us know whet the first line reads please |

Quote: I'm not either. I've tried all settings available with my O.E. but i can't replicate the options the FatMan is getting. |

The View, Current View list you describe is NOT Outlook Express it is Microsoft Outlook. |

Sorry, I only spoke to my friend on the phone about this; I have been round and had a look for my self. 1) It is Outlook 2002 2) If you read your emails in the "Inbox" when they are closed, they disappear, if you move them into another folder you can read them and when you close them, they stay put. 3) Only, disappear in the "Inbox" Sorry about the mix up. I'm no expert on Outlook 2002 as I've never seen or used it. This...Microsoft article gives a possible solution but reading through the previous posts you seem to say you don't get the "Customize Current View". Is that the case. |
