multiple email addresses

I want to set up email addresses for my kids, but the problem is how do i get onto the internet without having to go through my settings?

When the comp boots up, we all have our own settings & passwords, but the only email address/connection is mine - does that mean they`ll have access to my inbox/outlook express? Surely i havent got to pay another monthly subscription for them to have their own address?

I have wanadoo broadband & find their site unhelpful.

Any suggestions?

Re: multiple email addresses

First go to Wanadoo and create an email account for each one of your family, you can have as many email accounts as you want with them

Use your username, as the domain

so you would have the following email addresses created

tom@yourname.wanadoo.co.uk
dick@yourname.wanadoo.co.uk
harry@yourname.wanadoo.co.uk

Now log onto each individual User account and open outlook express

Go to tools | options Mail tab
click Add and set up the email account you created for that user
Log off and do the same for all the other users

What will happen is that when that person logs on to their user account, they will only get their email from THEIR email account

Re: multiple email addresses

no, open Outlook Express
Click Tools | Accounts | Mail Tab
Click Add
Click Mail

Put in a display name, ie Tom Bloggs
Click Next

type in the email address eg tombloggs@tombloggs.wanadoo.co.uk

Click Next

In the My incoming mail server is change to Pop3

In the incoming mail server..., type pop.wanadoo.co.uk
in the outgoing mail server..., type in smtp.wanadoo.co.uk

Click Next

in the user name, type in your username, ie yourname.wanadoo.co.uk
and type in your password

Check remember password

Click Next

Click Finish

Repeat on each USER account, so log off tom and log onto Dick

and repeat creating an account for dick bloggs

Re: multiple email addresses

Just done what you`ve said - logged onto my son`s settings and he got all my emails!! Must be doing something wrong.

After the `my incoming mail server` has been filled, I dont have a user name box, just an account name - does this make any difference?

Should i be putting my sons name@myaccount.wanadoo.co.uk?

Re: multiple email addresses

You can use the Message Rules in Outlook Express to achieve this

From Tools, click on Message Rules, and select the Mail option
Select New to open a New Mail Rule

1. Select the Condition for your rule
Check the box 'Where the message is from the specified account'
Check the box 'Where the TO or CC line contains people'

2. Select the Actions for your rule
Check the box 'Do not download it from the server'

3. Rule Description
Click on 'contains people'

Select People
Type the name of one of the people whose emails you do not want download, eg dick, followed by the '@' sign - eg dick@ - and click on Add

Repeat 1-3 for any further people you want to have an email address, eg harry@

Once you've entered all email addresses, click on OK

Now log onto the other accounts and repeat, obviously swapping the names around

Re: multiple email addresses

Are the kids accounts limited accounts?
