OE: disappearing emails

Hi,

I was checking emails with one of my Outlook Express accounts and Windows crashed moments after my emails were received. No big deal, this kinda stuff always happens...

However, now that account is acting very strangely. Everytime my emails come in they just disappear. The only indication that I have received emails is that the folder list displays how many emails I have received: eg. "Inbox (2)". But when I close OE and start it up again, that indication is no longer present for those emails received, and they're just...gone.

I have now discovered, also, that I lost all those emails I downloaded before Windows crashed. The emails are being taken off the server.

Can anyone help?

Re: OE: disappearing emails

Have a look here to try and locate them on your XPsystem. You will have to show hidden files and folders (My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View | Advanced Settings Scroll > Show hidden files and folders)

My Computer
C:drive
Documents and Settings
User Name
Local Settings
Application Data
Identities
{3R6365D834-9855-2215-8T54-R235F9017803} . . (or similar)
Microsoft
Outlook Express

If you can see any DBX files, right click:

Open With
check Select the program from list
Browse
Look in Program Files
Scroll Outlook Express
msimn
Open
OK

This should open Outlook Express and reveal hopefully your lost mails.

Hope this helps.

Oracle,

Thank you for the reply. I did everything you said, and it didn't work. I opened up all the DBX files from the identiy folders, but to no avail.

My emails are still being eaten. :(

Re: OE: disappearing emails

there could be some sort of anti spam software stopping your emails coming through with your service provider. Contact your service provider and ask them if they have anything like this running on their server, it's worth a try.
