Sending mail

Hello, hope you can help. I run XP from a Laptop using Outlook Express 6.0. When I try to send emails they go from the outbox into the sent box but are not sent?? There are no error messages at all. The account works all ok on the main PC?

Re: Sending mail

Have you tried sending yourself an email just to confirm that the mail isn't actually being sent and received?

Re: Sending mail

Perhaps this could be a firewall issue?

Make sure that your firewall/router isn't blocking your e-mail application from sending out e-mails.

Re: Sending mail

Yes I have several times. I have a Hotmail account so I can send from the laptop to it and try to receive it on the main PC.

The laptop will not send or receive emails at all although it moves mail into the sent box?

Re: Sending mail

Have you tried recreating your email account in OE? Get the info you need about user names, password, POP server etc. then open OE and click on Tools, Accounts, Add and create a new account. Then try the Send/Recv button with a test email.

Re: Sending mail

Would it be possible to take Hotmail out of the equation?
Hotmail sometimes has a mind of it's own, and comes with a variety of problems in it's own right, so if you could use another account, it may help to minimise the potential problems.

I would also send, then receive the mail(s) to yourself on the Same machine. This will again take out the equation any 'other' machine's setup as we don't know if the other machine is configured correctly.

Re: Sending mail

Ok thanks. I have tried everything you have suggested to no avail. All that I need to do now is to address the fact that I cannot send emails. Everything else is working ok now. I write the mail, press send and it goes into the "sent" box and that's as far as it goes.
