signatures

I have made a gif signature which includes a link using Frontpage and saved it as html. I have placed this file in the same folder as the original gif image, but when I try and set it up as a signature in Outlook Express, I get a blank image with a small red cross in the top left corner and a message saying that Outlook couldn't find the image - why is this?
Thank you.

Re: signatures

In OE's Signature Tab, have you entered the full location of the HTML code and specified it as HTML e.g. C:\My Documents\signature.html

Re: signatures

Thank you for the swift reply.
Yes, I have specified the whole filename and location like you said but unfortunately no luck with the image

Re: signatures

Let's recap :-
Do you have the HTML code and the GIF image in the same folder?
Does the full location appear at the bottom of the Signature Tab in OE?
Does the signature appear as an IE page when you click on the html filename?

Re: signatures

I've just reread the first post and you mention a link. I'm not sure as I've never tried it but it must the link that is causing the problem.

Ordinarily, HTML signatures are stored on the hard disk. Here's an example but I've changed some of the code and missed some out as it will probably mess up the posting on the forum, e.g.

<img src="D:\MY HTML\Mail Signature\pic22.gif"
<font face="verdana, arial, helvetica" size=2 color=blue
<gagagagaggagagaga
<B font face="basketville" color=blue size=4
Fred Bloggs<BR /B

Other than the above I can't imagine what's wrong.

Re: signatures

thanks very much.
The link works fine (if I click on the blank box) but the image doesn't show.

I appreciate your help, will keep trying myself!

Re: signatures

look at the html code. Its possible that the link to the gif is referencing your hard disk e.g. c:\documents.......... whereas it should just say filename.gif as they are in the same folder
