Big eBay Changes - FEB 2008

As well as the other thread in which the major news is the closure of eBay Express - mind, I did only ever sell ONE thing on it in all the time it was going - eBay have announced some big changes.

EBay Seller Rewards bites the dust. You got to be a member of this if you had eBay fees over £150. Then if you 'beat' that they paid you a reward to your PayPal account. My account has not been updated since July and they owe me a packet!

Anyway that will be replaced by a system that will cut fees for sellers who qualify under the Detailed Seller Ratings (DSR) where buyers rate you out of 5:

And insertion fees will reduce BUT FVF will go up.

Sorry to carp on, but what blows here is eBay raised fees when it introduced eBay Express so the sellers ended up paying for it. Now it sinks they reduce fees with one hand and raise them with the other. Good business? I don't think so.

Re: Big eBay Changes - FEB 2008

Sorry, replying to my own thread!

Powersellers must also now REGISTER AS A BUSINESS.

For anyone who is just a punter this is actually Good news! Business sellers are covered by Distance Selling Regulations (DSR) issued by OFT not to be confused with Detail Seller Ratings (DSR) on eBay!

What does it mean to buyers?

It means if you want to return an item within Seven Days the seller MUST agree and MUST cover return postage. I think you will see a lot of 'Powersellers' running out of steam as they will not operate with the policy AND it gives eBay an easy route to communicate with HMRC (taxman!)
