Favorites personalised icons automatically reset

This happened to me the other day and I'm pissed !
I was adding urls to my IE Favorites and suddenly all the personalised icons of other favorites were reset to the standard e-icon !
Any ideas how that happened and any ideas how to fix the 400 or so without resorting to FavOrg to search the web for each and everyone again ?

This happens when you clear out history, temp IE files.
But I dont see why it would happen suddenly. May have a slight problem there.

I've cleared out tempIE files before and it didn't happen. Wasn't clearing history at the time. This happened as I added urls to my favorites --- by the time I'd noticed it was too late to remember the specific url that triggered it
