Applets

Hi All

I have just downloaded all the M$ updates as well as Java from Sun microsystems. After my recent updates i find myself unable to view web pages wit pictures, i instead have the applets with a box. When i right click and select show picture i am only then presented with the picture.
I reset my internet options to default on the advanced tab but i am still unable to view most pictures on most sites.( Not Web-user though......Seems fine)

Thanks, Stuarty

Re: Applets

Have a read of M$KB 283807 Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer

Re: Applets (Resolved)

Hi

Thanks for the prompt reply to my post puta. I read your link to the M$ KB and went through the steps individually untill i exhausted all options.
I thought that the problem was occuring from the Encoding and tried different variations untill i managed to get a stable one with Central European ( Windows ), but for some reason it always changed to Unicode ( UTF-8 ).
To put things worse my Broadband connection slowed to a standard Dial-up service which was getting anoying.
I always download the latest updates from M$ to keep my system safe and over the past couple of days i have downloaded about 40 Updates. I never had any problems before the updates so i restored my system to the day before the updates and hey presto Everything is back to normal, if not better. Problem solved! ( Well If or When i D/L the rest of the updates anyway )
From anyones experience is it better just to download the Critical Updates and leave the others as i only seem to get problems when i update my system from M$

Would like to hear views on this subject from more experienced users as i am reluctant to update the Non-Critical updates.

Thanks, Stuarty

Re: Applets (Resolved)

personally i only d/load the critical updates, and look through the rest and only d/load any i think directly affect any programs or processes that i use. for instance anything to do with networking i don't bother with. mine is a standalone computer. as long as you get the critical ones.
