Firefox keeps closing down

Can anyone help? I've been using Firefox as my default browser for a while now without any problems. But since the weekend I've had problems when viewing a new web page. By this I mean I've googled for info, clicked on a web site, been able to view the front page for a moment but as soon as I touch the mouse the whole page closes and the computer takes me back to my desktop.

It seems to be after I google for something. Just now I googled for an image but firefox closed again. I am using IE to bring up webuser

Can anyone explain what might be happening? I've scanned with AVG but found nothing. I scanned with spybot but no probs discovered... well there was another prob with spybot but that's for another forum! Ho hum!

Re: Firefox keeps closing down

Are you using any Add-Ons (extensions). One or more maybe causing you problems.

Go to Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox Safe Mode

Try your usual surfing habits in this mode and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Firefox keeps closing down

Thanks, I'll give that a go. Haven't used the safe mode yet - is it easy to go back to the normal setting afterwards? (Yeh, I know I'm a complete novice when it comes to that kind of stuff!)

Husband recently got an ipod and has started downloading stuff and all that entails and then, strangely enough round about the time I've been having problems I think, he got a techy machine for reading his sugar levels and inputting data re his diabetes and he was having probs getting that to work. As far as I know the stuff he downloaded is still on computer and I wonder if it's that which is causing the probs. Hmm....

Will get back and let you know..
