Hi All, If pages are individually deleted from history in FF, (not a wholsesale clearance of the history), is there any way of finding out what pages have been visited? Cheers, Mugsy |

Quote: Not as far as I know, once they've been deleted, they're gone. Apparently, history.dat is a file in your profile folder which contains a record of all recently visited pages, see this article which will give you more info, but the file mentioned may not have a record of pages you deleted. Don't alter anything in your profile folder unless you're absolutely certain of what you're doing - just look, don't alter! |

Thank you for your answer Madeline. Apparently history.dat is contained in C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\. I can't seem to find the 'application data' folder on my pc. I was looking for it the other day too. Could it be hidden? The missus lets other people use the pc, and I've got a feeling that some unsafe sites are being visited, as my pc has developed a quite peculiar problem. I do have a good ghost copy of my HDD, if I can't get sorted, but I really want to get to the root of the problem, rather than just deal with the symptoms. Any advice on how to find 'application data'?, a search brings up nothing. Cheers Mugsy |

Quote: Click on start > control panel > folder options > view tab > under the heading "hidden files and folders" place a tick to show them > apply > OK. You can now navigate to....Application Data\Mozilla\. Just remember certain files and folders are hidden for good reason so be careful. Once you're done it would be best to go back to the folders options and reverse the changes you've made. |

Thank you for that FifeFlyer, I have found not history.dat but History video cd movie in the list....I seem to remember this happening when I tried to search for cookies. the cd movies try to open up in Nero, but get the error that ' the media is corrupt or not supported by Nero. Is this a case of file association by an applicaion?, or another settings change needed? Thanks Mugsy |

MugsMoney , the full path to the history.dat file is : C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Default\. At this point i would call it a day as you are not going to be able to read the contents with any application that's installed on your pc. There's links to possible readers.. here....but , in my view the complexity of it all doesn't make it worth the bother. |
