i am thinking of installing firefox would i be better keeping windowa internet explorer or delete it

Keep Internet Explorer.
a) you may not like Firefox
b) IE is very closely integrated into Windows OS, not easy to remove safely.
c) IE is needed to get you Windows updates/patches ( I know other browsers can work around that, but IE is the safest way.)

greysts is right you cannot delete IE.
But there is nothing stopping you from using Firefox,I much prefer it to IE.
