New tabs in FF

Hi Y'all, I am using FireFox and do'nt know why some new tabs or 'Enlarge Image' windows only open in a certain size? cos I sometimes get them about an inch wide and 9 inches high and I can't change the size V.Annoying
Help please

Have you tried grabbing the sides of the reduced screen with your cursor , and , dragging it out enough to reveal the "maximize" button , or just dragging it to full size.

I sure have but the cursor doesn't change to the arrows to do that, hence the post for help
