Latest version is 9.0.115.0. Check.... this page....to see if you're up to date. If you're up to date then the plug in may be corrupt. Do a fresh install. Download and run the... Adobe flash player uninstaller....This will uninstall flash player from all the browsers you use , so you will need to reinstall them for each browser you use. |

Try running the uninstaller again and rebooting your pc before reinstalling flash. |

Hi all, the same on my machine.....Sun site crashes as soon as it opens. When I open the page with IETab, it works just fine. Not ideal I know, but I find there's quite a few sites don't like firefox & this seems to sort it out. IETab is available as a Firefox add-on, Install, then whenever you want to open a troublesome page, right click on the link & choose 'open in IETab'. Not ideal I know, but it'll get you there Mugsy |

The only other thing i can think of to try is to disable all your Firefox extensions ( may be a conflict with Flash ? ) , Restart Firefox and then try the sites. If that doesn't help then it's simply a case of enabling the extensions again. There is a fair bit of stuff... here....that you may want to work through. If there's still no joy , i guess a reinstall of Firefox would be the last option. I know you said you've done this , but if all files were not removed completely it could cause problems after the reinstall. A bit drastic i know but i don't know what else to suggest. The two sites you mention , and the one MugsMoney mentions don't give me any problems. Just to confirm : I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Flash 9.0.115.0. Other two alternatives , a system restore , or , use IE tab till you find a fix. |

hi, ive uninstalled firefox using add.remove programs, and also deleted the main firefox folder on C drive, also uninstalled flash, then reboot, and reinstalled, same problem again, works fine without flash but not with it, i couldnt locate the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox maybe the problem lies in that folder? |
Quote: Windows hides these files by default awam and on the link i gave there is a further link where it shows how to.....show hidden files and folders Did you do a clean reinstall ?? ie. did you remove the Firefox user profile data, which includes bookmarks, passwords, cookies, preference settings and added extensions. |
ok do i delete the profiles folder? within apllication data/Mozilla |
awam , the profile folder you're are talking about :C:\Documents and Settings\<username> \Local Settings\Application Data \Mozilla\Firefox ....contains only temporary data so i don't think it would make a difference deleting it. However , the profile folder that contains ALL the important information , is at : C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name> \Application Data\Mozilla \Firefox\Profiles. Removing this along with the rest of the Mozilla files is called a clean install and is the only way to completely remove Firefox. Trouble is doing this means you lose , bookmarks, passwords, cookies, preference settings and added extensions. You would need to back up any of these that you wanted to keep. I have to be honest and say i really don't know if going down this route this would solve your problem. If a corrupt profile was causing the problem then it would remove it , but like i say i don't know if a corrupt profile is the cause. It's entirely up to you if you want to do this , but , well , there's no guarantee it would sort things out so i'd understand if you decide to live with the problem for the time being. I'm struggling for an alternative solution The only other option i can think of is to try running Firefox in safe mode. ( this is not the same as windows safe mode )....and try the sites again. Have a look... here. It does involve changing some settings so read it carefully. |
OK mate ill try that ta, its a mystery this, i'm not sure Inpector Morse could solve this one.. |

The existing Profile doesn't have to be deleted in order to see if it's causing the problem. An additional 'test' one can be created for the purpose. If the 'test' Profile was to cure the trouble, then it could be kept and customised/built to requirements. When this is done, the original (faulty) Profile can be removed ..but first import the bookmarks from it into the new Profile. If using the test Profile doesn't make any difference, it can be removed (use the Profile Manager for removing Profiles). To create and try a new additional Profile: Go to 'Start (button) > Run'. Type firefox -p into the box (note the space between x and -). This will open the Profiles Manager. Untick the 'Don't ask a startup' option. Click the 'Create Profile' button and follow the steps. Choose to open Firefox with the newly created Profile. Try a page that uses Flash. |

Cheers for that mart.

just an update, took off fireofox via add/remove programs, deleted the firefox folder on c: drive and deleted the plugins folder from the link u wrote. reinstalled again from scatch and the sites are still crashing

The Plugins Folder would have been deleted when the folder in 'C:\Program Files' was deleted since the Plugins Folder is located inside that. Do you mean that the 'Profiles Folder' in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data (the folder called 'Mozilla') was also deleted before reinstalling Firefox? If you've done all that, then it might be worth thinking outside of Firefox. How about a firewall reason or something like a Registry error? Maybe a remote possibility but it seems it might be worth investigating. The fault could be something beyond the help of a forum. Sometimes it needs ideas coming from someone who can actually look at the computer and try a few things. |

i think your right, after all, firefox works fine for 99.9% of site and so does flash, it must be something else. the folder i deleted was C:\Documents and Settings\<username> application data, mozilla, firefox, plugins,. Even after a clean install, the problem persits. there no dount im getting an error siganture in firefox, but i have no idea how to fix it. |

I've had the problems with thesun.co.uk I've not been on 2br.co.uk before, but I've just visited and it too completely closed FireFox. I know it's nothing wrong my end because every other website I visit with flash are fine. I have emailed the sun, but I never got a reply so they don't seem to care about it. It is very annoying if you have a few tabs open and are browsing google news, when you click on a link and it takes you to thesun.co.uk you lose everything. |
