Strange Firefox Problem

I am have recently started having problems with some forums that I belong to when using Firefox. On one forum Firefox will no longer auto log me in it just keeps redisplaying the index page and on another the smile emoticon has been replaced by a photo of Neo from the matrix which another member used to use as his avatar these problems disappear if I use IE or Opera. I have even downloaded the IE Tab for Firefox and when I go to these forums using that they are fine. I have tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling but this doesn't help but all my settings remain the same so I am not getting a clean install. I have tried another PC using Firefox and everything was fine.

I could understand a log in failure but to have a picture showing up instead of a smilie is very strange. I am running winXP with Norton Internet Security and Spyware Terminator.

Any help would be appreciated even if it is only to tell me how to completely uninstall Firefox so that I can remove all settings and try again.

Re: Strange Firefox Problem

A bloated cache can sometimes cause strange effects. Have you tried emptying it? The cache won't be deleted or emptied by uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

I wonder if something in this thread might apply. Follow the link to the Mozilla Knowledge Base article and have a read.
