Firefox addons not working

Hi
I am running Firefox on Windows Vista for a few months. Now my addons have stopped working. When I go to Tools/ Addons they are all listed there, some are greyed out some are not but beside each of them it says that it will be installed the next time Firefox is restarted but this does not happen.I have tried reinstalling and also installing older versions of Firefox but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.
