Hi all, not certain this is the right area to post with this problem but here goes. I connect to the internet via Virgin Media on a Windows XP, SP2 system using IE7. When surfing I can usually have half a dozen or so tabs open and I can surf with no problems whatsoever. During the last couple of months though I have noticed that, when closing tabs, clicking on the final tab to exit the internet generally takes around 10-30 seconds to close. More often than not it will hang and then crash "not responding" and I have to go through the "Send Error Message" shut down to get out of the internet. On occasion I have to open up the task manager and shut down the "Dumprep" to get out of the internet. My internet seems to work fine and I am generally happy that this is not a virus problem. Grateful for any advice anybody may have. Happy to post machine details etc as neceesary to help isolate the problem. Please let me know what you need to see. Regards - Andy |

andy334 , dumprep (exe) is the file that contains the details of the error that you send back to Microsoft. Unfortunately Microsoft are not going to reply to you personally , so disabling the error reporting may help a little. To do this......Click on start > right click on "my computer" > properties > then the advanced tab > then "error reporting" tab . Place a tick in the "disable error reporting" box , and the "but notify me when a critical error occurs" box , and click OK. I'm not sure it will nail the problem , but may speed things up a bit. |

Thank you for the response. I disabled the alerts a long time ago so the only one's I am currently getting are the critical reports. Something somewhere is slowly turning my system to mush so there must be something else clogging things up somewhere. I will post a hi-jack this log on the security thread and see if they can spot anything that might be causing problems. Thanks for the help. |
