All of a sudden FF won't launch when I click on the icon. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it but no success.......it reinstalls fine but just won't launch. (My OS is XP ; I've even tried System Restore (to a date before problem arose) but this has solved the problem either) Can someone please help .. Thanks in advance Larry |

LarryZane , are you trying to launch it from a desktop shortcut ? If so try launching from the "all programs" menu. Ha Ha , love the avatar.

I'm guessing this may be related, now when I try and uninstall any programs, I can't, I recieve an error message saying that various uninstall files could not be found. To date I haven't changed the path associated with any of these programs, they are still located in c:\program files\...the same folder they were originally installed in ???? Larry |

Hi again , there's a few suggestions..... here. Option 4 may be one to try. |

Maybe it is an extension problem. If so, running in Firefox's Safe Mode should prove that one way or the other. If that doesn't help, perhaps Firefox didn't shut down properly the last it was used. It can appear to have closed down when it really hasn't. Have a close look at the running processes in 'Task Manager' to see if Firefox is listed. If so, select it and end the process (also check for more than one). If this was the case, Firefox should then start. If this keeps happening, read on. Maybe the Profile is locked. Do you get any messages? If so, delete the 'parent.lock' file. Perhaps try deleting the file even if you don't get a 'Profile in use' message. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_in_use Faults that are 'Profile' related, won't be cured by uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox. They have to be fixed by other means. It's sometimes handy to have an additional Profile that can be tried when Firefox doesn't work properly. If Firefox starts working OK with another Profile, then then you'd know where to start looking for a problem. The additional Profile can even be kept and customised to requirements (import bookmarks - install extensions) if the problem proves difficult. |
