browser problem

hi guys i have a little problem here i am hoping you can help me with.
my daughter has a dell laptop running windows xp. all of a sudden internet explorer wont work anymore but strangely enough firefox will.
i have tried a few things to get internet explorer to work again but to no avail all i get is this page cannot be displayed and i get this message on any website i click on in her favourites list.... any ideas anyone?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Internet Explorer?
