Mozilla Maintenance

I'm trying out Mozilla 1.4 for e-mail and newsgroups but can't see how to perform the maintenance functions that can be found in Outlook Express 6 (tools - maintenance - clean-up etc). Does a similar function exist in Mozilla - if so how can I access it?
