An hour ago I dowloaded the Firefox Add-on 'Gmail Skins'. It's good because I can add smileys and insert pictures from Picasa, directly into an outgoing g-mail. I also changed the colour. But now can't work out how to change it back ? For the first time in ages - HELP please. . |

Have a look here . . . > Gmail Skins bugs in particular 16151 which suggests you can only use it the first setup. On testing the skins, it did exactly that. A work around is to: Delete the entry within the "Labels" menu and refresh the inbox to display the default style. Log out then back in and you should have the Configuration Settings Page ![]() available again. |

Thanks Steve. Everything you said in your post came to pass. But, when I looked at the background colours for the 'skin' I liked the one I had first chosen. Must be getting fickle in my old age. I don't want to get rid of the add-on because it is nice to be able to include smileys directly into g.mail. BTW the 'insert pictures' facility only works from one's Picasa Web Albums - not from My Pictures, or any other source. Still a move forward though. |

If you want to use smileys in your gmail, try the Smiley Xtra extension. I use it and it works well. I may demonstrate it to you soon if I remember! The little cat below is one example! ![]() Madeline.

Hi Madeline. Thanks for that and I've successfully downloaded and got the button on my toolbar, The button responds and I have the smiley list on the left of my g.mail page. But how do I get the smiley from there and into a g.mail please ? . |

Quote: It's so long since I've done this that I'd forgotten, good thing I had it on a Notepad! I'm not sure if it's the "official" method, but it works for me. When you want to send a gmail message and you've got the new message box open, click on the Smiley Xtra icon and it'll open in the sidebar adjacent to your message box. Select a category e.g. Animals and then click on the 'Group Preview' button (2nd button from the left, at the top) and a new tab will open with all the smileys for that category for you to look at. Find a smiley you like from this preview page and select it (hold down left mouse button and drag the mouse over the image). You should find a bluish box covering the smiley if you've done this correctly i.e. it's been 'selected'. Press Ctrl+C, go to the place in your message where you want to insert the smiley (make sure you've got the little flashing cursor) and press Ctrl+V and your smiley will appear there. I sent myself a test e-mail earlier from gmail to my main e-mail address that I have with BT and the smiley was there. It even retained the animation, although it had appeared static when I inserted it into my gmail. This sounds a very long-winded process but it actually takes only a few seconds! There's probably a better way of doing it, but this is the only one I know. Madeline.

Spot on Madeline. I've even managed to work out the 'forum code'. Your post should be of great value to other slow-coaches. Graham
