Hello. This is more of a query than a problem....I've been on Sky Broadband 8mb for about a year now on 2 laptops running XP. Just recently I traded one of them in for a Dell PC running Vista basic. The connection speed of this newer PC seems unfeasibly high. On the 2 previous machines, I was achieving speeds of about 3 or 4mb/sec which I would expect. But on the new one it ranges from 16mb/sec to around 21mb/sec. How can this be so? I'm only on an 8mb contract, so how can I be achieving 2 or 3 times that speed? I've tried various websites, and all give the same readings. I'm baffled, hope you can shed some light on this. The PC is a Dell C521 with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor, and 3GB of RAM. So nothing special. Thanks in advance, steverton44 |
