Anyone having trouble with Pipex internet being slow? The last week I'd have been better using dial-up! No joke! I rang their tech support today to find out if there was a problem and couldn't believe the questions the woman was asking me - was my modem in a carpeted area of the house?? Apparently if it is, then there lies my problem. If you have a modem in a carpeted area you suffer from what's known as EMI (I thought they were a record company!) Electro-Magnetic Interference, I think, was what she called it. Considering my modem has sat happily in the same spot since I got it, I don't see how suddenly is suffers from that now. Anyway, she asked me to speed checks at their own recognised test facility (http://speedcheck.ispconnect.co.uk/) which I think is on their own servers? Or am I wrong? Anyway, this report a speed of 2.24 Mbps - I'm an an "up to 8mb" service, so I would say it's slow, but then the phone wiring round the house is old, so can't hope for much more I suppose.... My point though is - although the speed test runs fine this facility will be on their own servers - so it's going to be fast isn't it? It's the internet coming from everywhere else via Pipex that is slow... |

i have experienced the same problem i have been with pipex for about 12 years. the service/speed has gone downhill - the support is hopeless i believe that this all stems from the taleover by tiscali. i am proposing to change ISP to Bethere which has been recommended ray |

I agree with you - it's gone completely down the pan since Tiscali took over. I'll be moving house soon and certainly don't intend sticking with Pipex. I've never had a problem until recently, but the support I got this afternoon proved they haven't a clue. |

I was with Pipex for many years and recently the service has been slowing down - actually, its been since Tiscali bought them. I moved to TalkTalk which has saved me £28 a month on my telecoms costs, and I now have very fast and perfect service. |
