Wireless Security of ISPs

I want to switch ISPs but I'm worried about the security of WEP wireless.
At present I'm with Orange, but use our own Netgear Router with WPA protection.
If I switched to BT Total Broadband, does their wireless solution use WPA /WPA2 or is it the weaker WEP?
Also how easy would it be for me to continue to use my Netgear router with BT, and not use their Homehub?

You're right in saying that WEP is a weak security measure. However, the security that is applied to your wireless connection is controlled by you, not the ISP. It's your choice whether you want to run openly, with WEP or with WPA.
Yes, as long as you configure the Netgear router with your BT Broadband username and password you should be able to connect through it. Should actually save you a bit of money if you do not need the HomeHub. Any more Q's, jsut post back

with sky its a netgear router which is wpa that should be the protection you have at the minute! if you want that security go to sky. hope this helps

Thanks for your replies. It seems Sky is the best option, especially with the WPA protection you mention and the fact we already have a Sky package, so would get cheap broadband with them.
Do Sky have a good reputation for customer support and minimal downages?

I can't say much about customer support because we never had to call them. The line down at my brother's place was nippy and fairly stable though.
The bundled gear is also ready to go right out of the box (after your connection date). If you do switch, be sure to get your Orange account canceled and obtain a MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) from them to give to Sky.

you don't need to cancel ask your current isp for the MAC code and the account with the isp will cancel after 30 days that is the purpose of a MAC code. if you want to make sure it has been cancelled just cancel the direct debit with your bank once you are live with syour new isp. feel free to cancel and get a MAC code it will take longer as a cease will be placed on the line from old isp and it will probably take longer for sky to set you up. i know this as i work in sky in the broadband deptartment and i recieve alot of calls regarding this and when i investage with BT that is the result. so in easy terms incase i have confused anyone, call your current ISP and request a MAC code call sky and give them it if you want to go to sky for broadband. you are supposed to still have internet access until sky take over so any problems with loss of internet call the old isp and demand it is switched back on. hope this helps you and any more questions i am happy to help!

There is hardly any downtime with Sky and with the Netgear router that you receive you can access this and have any security level you want.
