From Modem to Router - Advice please

Hello All,
I'm looking for some kind person to hold my hand, please.
After months of being connected to Broadband via a USB modem (Speedtouch 330), I am biting the bullet and buying a router with an Ethernet connection.
I know it will have instructions, and there are also guidelines on Tiscali's Help page, but when it comes to the connection I am using now, it just says to unplug the modem and put it in a drawer.
Now I would have thought that the modem drivers and all current dial-up options should be removed. Is this correct? And, if so, do I delete all of this information before or after installing the new Router?
Thank you for your help,
Maggie

In essence, it can be a simple as that but I prefer to remove everything to do with the old connection before installing the router.

I would use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove all aspects of your current browser. That should remove the current dial up connection and any security stuff that Tiscali includes in their setup.

Don't use the Tiscali CD to install the router, just plug it in then go into the router setup and put your Tiscali login name and password in. Once the router makes the connection your PC should get it's connection to the net automatically through the NIC.

Re: From Modem to Router - Advice please

Thanks Greysts,
That's what I thought would happen. Just needed to know if the dial-up information needed to be wiped before or after. The modem has it's uninstall on the CD rom, but I will check all the other areas for any remnants that may need removing.
The rest of it just needs to be removed (as far as I am aware) from the Network Connections panel, and the Start menu.
Cross your fingers for me!
All the best,
Maggie
