adsl modem

my b/t voyager broadband adsl modem is now giving me grief every time I first start up. it is not making the "link" until I have juggled/pulled/pushed/and switched on/off a number of times.therefore I am looking at a replacement ie = "us robotics adsl usb" BUT looking at the specs, 1 item is completely alien to me = WHAT IS--V90 ?
IT SAYS IT IS NOTCOMPATIBLE ? i RUN AN EMACHINE WITH WINDOWS XP / USE AOL BROADBAND
can I use this modem or not. if not, can anyone sugest a good adsl modem connecting to my usb ? many thanks
Neville

Re: adsl modem

If you have got broadband, there is no need to worry about v-90 compatibility.

V-90, I think refers to how the modem responds to data through your phoneline or some such nonsense.

Though when I had similar problems with my voyager modem, I called up BT and a replacement was sent ASAP, no problems. Of course, it was after I sent back the first one.

Re: adsl modem

My BT voyager modem has gave me nothing but hassle and it's about time BT sorted out there poor service, connection, speed and modems. I'm totally sick of them and I have to stay with them for 12 months. All I can say is complain complain complain then maybe eventually they'll get the point. I haven't complained yet but I wil be if I keep having problems.

I know there are probably people with BT Broadband and find it fine but from this site I can see that alot are finding problems with them and their modems.
