Broadband and phone problem
|
|
Hi, everone maybe someone out there can help me im going nuts here.I have Wannadoos wireless broadband, and everthing was ok untill a fortnight ago when my phone started working up ie: it wouldnt ring on incoming calls it would just jump straight to the answer phone.I decided to buy a new phone only to find that this wouldnt take incoming calls either. If i disconect the internet and put the phone directly in the socket then it works fine. I have tried new filters and have had the line checked by BT and it is fine, Please can anyone help?

It sounds to me as if you have eliminated all the poosible causes bar one and that is your broadband modem. I should go back to Wanadoo and ask them for a replacement.

That sounds EXTREMELY unlikely, the ADSL filter isolates the modem from the line, so it can't really cause problems.
It sounds more like he has a wiring problem, with the third wire (ring line) not being connected? - or possible a faulty master socket?. There's no ADSL connection at all to the third wire, so that can't possibly affect it.
I had a similar problem MANY years ago, and my hamster had chewed through the cable, breaking the ring line

But surely if BT have checked the line, he's replaced all his filters and the phone works properly when plugged directly into the socket how can he have a problem with the wiring? It also follows that if you are right he will have to get a BT engineer out to do some proper checking. Will BT do that if they have already checked it once?

Nice one greysts I agree with you points I would try another modem first before doing anything else’s as modems can break down. If BT has check the line they will not do it again or that could cost you a lot of money leparneb.
And as for the hamster I think that’s not the only ring it has had bite out of lol
