Hi I am new to computers and would appreciate any help you guys can provide. I have recently loaded XP Pro on to my PC with a BT Broadband connection. There are 6 users but the broadband connection only works for the user nominated as the computer admin. Any ideas ??? Thanks |

Are all your other users limited users or guest users? |

Thank you for your reply. At the moment it is a mixed bag, 2 have admin rights and the other 3 are limited but none of them can access the internet via the BT icon on their desktop. When I loaded broadband it suggested I leave the username open for all so that everyone one could use it, this I did by ticking the apprpriate box. But when the others try to access the internet it asks for a username ? When it connects to BT Help it says it cannot find the modem, but how would it work for one user and not the others ? Not sure if it's something within XP Pro that i need to tweak to give access or it is a broadband problem. Clear as mud eh ! |

Do you log off when you change users are you using fast user switching (FUS)? If you are using FUS, then try this Open Notepad (Start | Run, Type in Notepad) Copy the following in green to Notepad Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "KeepRasConnections"="1" Click File | Save As Change Save as type to All Types Call the file KeepRASFUS.reg Save to a location that you can remember Close Notepad Find KeepRASFUS.reg, double click on it Click Yes when it asks if you want to merge Restart your computer in your main account, and now try Switching users |

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Don't use FUS each user logs off when finished. Still can't understand why it will only let one user access the broadband and not the others |

This is a bit of guesswork but what would happen if each user logged on in turn and used the BT CD to install the software? Could they then log on using their own profile but your user name and password? |
