Having just upgraded to Wanadoo 2mb 2gb service, I ran some speed tests, as you would, to test my "actual" new speed against the claimed speed. Download results were confusing to say the least: ADSL Guide 2010kbps Broadband Reports 1098 kbps (mind you yesterday it resulted in 497kbps) DSL Zone UK 1370kbps PC Pitstop 645kbps ZDNet UK 1743kbps All done at same time of day with any on-line programs being disconnected. What are you supposed to make of that?!?

That's what all the results in my post show. Now add CNet at 1024kbps, approx half what it should be. |

Have you tried http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks Here you can test your connection and if you take a little time to get the required info together someone usually replies very quickly with some suggestions on how to tweak your settings to improve things. My experience has usually been an slight speed increase with markedly less fluctuation. Subjectively the tweaks make things faster. Give it a go. |
