Download Speeds...

Hi.
I haev Tesco broadband, and it says its connected at 576 kbs, yet when I download software from iTunes and Nortons website (ammonst others) my speed never goes above 60 kbs (if I'm lucky).
Where is the rest of the speed gone?!

I would imagine your problem is this:
Your internet connection is measuring in kiloBITS per second, your downloads are measuring in kiloBYTES per second, 8 bits = 1 byte, so 60 kilobytes = 480 kilobits, or a lot closer to your indicated connection speed.
On a standard 512kbps BB connection, if you can download at 60kilobytes per second, you are doing well, and have no cause for complaint. At these speeds, a 3mb file should download in about a minute.

Download speeds are limited by the remote server speed activity, and the internet. A byte of data is 8 bits. The download speed is being measured in bytes and any broadband test is being measured in bits
If possible, try downloading from an ftp site rather than an http site
There is a certain amount of bandwidth throttling to ensure that everyone gets a chance to download files, and certainly if you are d/l popular files, then you share the bandwidth with everyone else!
