Re: Acer Aspire 7520 Harddrive Upgrade

Your hard drive is partitioned into 2 parts, one for the system drive and one for the recovery, giving your entire drive a capacity of 60Gb

Virtually all the hard drives are made by the big 4, so it would be a case of taking your existing 60Gb hard drive out and seeing what markings are on the drive case. It is unlikely that you would get anything like that size, there are very few 2.5" drives that would fit. You may get a 160 or 250 but without knowing what you have at present, it would be difficult to say.

Your alternative would be to use a USB or network attached external drive, which would then allow you to attach drives of up to 750Gb to your lappie

Re: Acer Aspire 7520 Harddrive Upgrade

If the drive is showing as a primary partitioned drive, it seems it has already been used before, but it matters not. It should be more than adequate for what you need it to do

I would suggest that unless you have already started putting data on it, that you reformat in NTFS format.

Re: Acer Aspire 7520 Harddrive Upgrade

Reading this with great interest as we've just bought the same model . We're looking to put an extra drive in ourselves so wondering if the drive will be the same with slave and master jumpers as IDE ones we've replaced in the past ?

Dame666 what issues did you have with getting the drive recognised ?
