What to go with a spare graphics card?

Hi,

Just having a ponder... Is it possible to put two separate graphics cards into one machine and have them working two different monitors?

I am aware of dual headed graphics cards as I've just fitted one in my parents pc, but I now have a spare single headed card so I was just wondering if it could be used?

Cheers, JoH

Short answer - no it isn't. Longer answer - the BIOS is only set up to recognise one graphics device be it an onboard chip or a plug in card. You can't tell it to send a signal to both devices at the same time.

So basically you've got to have two brand new Nvidia cards that already incorporate SLI technology. I would guess the OP isn't in that position!

Yep, your mobo would need to support SLi too, so that may be another purchase.

OK, thanks guys. Pretty much what I kind of expected.
Will probably just buy a dual head card and have done.

Thanks again, JoH
