External HDD Showing as 0 bytes

I have just bought a new windows vista desktop PC, which i plugged in my external HDD - which is 250GB However in the 'my computer' it says it has '0 bytes free of 0 bytes' But when i plug it into my vista laptop, the drive shows up fine.
Any help?
