I've had the Hauppage external USB card for about a year. Before that I had the internal PCI card. They both work very well and allow me to view the 4 terrestrial channels either full screen or in a window. They also have Teletext capability. I am using an external TV aerial but I have used a set top aerial before. The reception is variable with the set top. Sorry I can't remember how much they cost but I think it was about £50. If you want to use the card away from home then I'm afraid you will need a TV licence. I've just seen an article in [there's an article in the current issue of Web User - AndrewC] that describes a new TV Tuner card that will pick up all the free-to-air digital stations including digital radio. It will cost £89 and be available from the end of September. It is made by GTA and is named Black Gold. If it really can do what it says I would say that it will be a far better solution than the analogue receiver. Edited by AndrewC on 20/08/2003 13:55 (server time). |

I had a few problems with the software that came supplied. I got the updates from the Hauppage site and that seemed to solve the problem. Now and again I get a clash when I try and load another programme that uses the Video card which can sometimes mean a reboot but it doesn't happen very often. To a degree it's my own fault because I sometimes try and run a video in Media Player whilst watching TV which is a bit silly really. I don't own a Playstation but presumably it has an output port for S-Video. If it has, the USB version of the TV card has an S-Video in, which I use to connect an analogue video camera. The card recognises the camera and and gives me, in effect, another TV channel. In theory you should be able to connect your PS2 direct to your PC but we will need somebody else to join this thread to offer advice on that score. |

I have the Hauppauge WinTV Go, which is the absolute basic version, but it works well. Combined with Power VCR i can schedule recordings and record programs onto my hard drive which is handy when the wife insists on watching soaps as i can let it record in the background and watch it later as computer and TV are in same room. I'm seriously considering getting the DEC 2000-T from Hauppauge as it can be plugged into the TV via Scart and the PC via USB at the same time. Its a Digital TV receiver and it comes with a remote control and costs £110 from Scan. It looks a good bit of kit. Admit nothing, deny everything and make counter-accusations |

No I don't think so. You are in the right forum now and most people will follow new postings to see if they can help. At the moment it looks as if there isn't anyone out there with a PS2. I see we've got a comment about the new Hauppage card and in a similar vein I've just seen an article about a new TV card from GTA called Black Gold. It is designed to pick up the new free-to-air digital TV stations plus all digital radio. Apparently it's going to cost £89 and will be available at the end of September. I've tried finding a web site for GTA but no luck. If it really can do what it says I might be getting one. Edited by rirvine on 26/08/2003 12:12 (server time). |

Hi Spag I don't know if this is of help but I have just had a quick look at Playstation.com for you and there is a technical support section there and he has all sorts of things like releasing your IP address and connection etc. I must admit we do have a Playstation which is taking over the lives of the men in the house but so far I have been unaffected. Also there is a forum there so I bet some tech/game head could help you. |

In regards to hooking up a PS2 to your PC. Heres a simple answer I found while searching for info on this very subject. It's taken from a forum and I don't know if it will definately work because I havn't tried it. Quote: Get a TV card, install it, hook it up to a VCR, then hook up the PS2 with a VCR, put VID IN and u can play it on ur comp. I did this with my old PS, worked great (screen shots, capturing FMV, 1 click away from cheat codes. End Quote http://www.jonny555.co.uk Amateur Watercolour Community |
