Why is it that when i try and play a cd all i get is a buzzing sound from my PC and nothing else?

Have a look at the Properties for your CD player in Device Manager. There is a tick box that allows you to use digital playback. If your device can't handle digital then take the tick off and you will get analog sound instead. To get the full instructions on how to get to Device Manager we will need to know what version of Windows you are running.
