Real Player

When I insert a DVD in the tray, I used to get a box displaying the four players I have, asking me to choose one to play (I always chose WMP).Somehow Real Player seems to have hijacked it and now when I insert a disc,it's a different box with only Real Player on it.I've no idea how or why this has happened. I can still play via the other options by clicking on them first, but I'd prefer the original options box back. Can anyone tell me how to retrieve it?

Re: Real Player

Two ways you can deal with this.

Click on start > my computer > right click on your DVD drive and choose properties. Click on the autoplay tab. In the drop down box choose DVD. Under "actions" , place a tick in the box beside "select an action to perform" , highlight "play DVD using Windows media player" , apply > OK. Now when you insert a DVD windows media player should play it automatically.

If you want the choice of players that you had before.......In the drop down box choose DVD , Under "actions" , place a tick in the box beside "prompt me each time to choose an action" , apply > OK. ( if it's already set to this reset it ).

Re: Real Player

Greetings FifeFlyer, recognise your name, you've helped me a few times in the past...thanks. The first part of your post works,it does play automatically. The second part "Prompt me etc" I've tried several times and despite doing it,not revealing my previous choice of players...still showing only the Real Player.

Re: Real Player

Try downloading and running Microsoft's... Autoplay repair wizard

Re: Real Player

Don't know the answer I'm afraid

I don't like Real Player one little bit...... as you say it takes over everything . Could it be the fact it's set as the default player ?? Might be worth checking it's settings to see.
