Quicktime will not uninstall

I hope that I am using the right forum for this post as this is my first visit. I am using Windows XP Home SP2 and find that I use Real player for most of my audio and video requirements. When I first started to use a computer after I retired , I was advised to have Quicktime Player and the Quick time Alternative on my system, but now I have been told that I do not need them as well as Real player. When I tried to uninstall both Quicktime and QT Alternative from the control panel/start and remove programmes, I got a message saying that the uninstall file did not exist and could not uninstall the programmes. When I went to Search, I found 27 files for both programmes and tried to delete the lot by putting them in the Rubbish bin. 23 went to the rubbish but 4 remained and would not go away!. Should I be concerned about this or just leave these files on the system? I should be very grateful for any help and advice .

Try renaming the files ( eg add the word "old" to it's name ) then see if they will delete. Failing that boot your pc in to.... "safe mode"....and remove then from there.

Thanks for that! Did as you suggested and managed to remove 3 files, then downloaded Revo Uninstaller (in this weeks Webuser) and it found even more files and then got rid of them. Many thanks for your help.
