recording software?
|
|
Hi just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. My husband has been DJing for years and has very recently made the switch from vinyl records to using a CD mixer. To record his mixes on the PC so they can later be put onto CD he was using Magix. However, he was having problems with the recording levels, I think they were to low and he couldn't turn them up. On a friends advice he has also tried Nero and a couple of others which I don't think he got on to well with as computers are not his strong point. As a result I ended up with several programs on my computer, none of which he was happy with! After my persistent nagging that he was clogging up my computer with rubbish he and his friend removed everything they had put on, then installed ANOTHER lot of software, which as far as I can tell is taking up even more space than the stuff they removed! Can anyone advise me on the best type of program to use, either free or reasonably priced. I don't mind paying for the software as long as it will do the job! Would just like a happy husband and a de-cluttered PC!!! Thanks for any advice!

When recording my mixes to PC I use Audacity and save it as a .wav file, I then convert it using ImToo Wav Converter so I can listen to it in the car on my iPod

Thanks for replying. I don't think it's a problem with converting files so much as magix seems to be able to convert most files into mp3s or whatever. The problem he is having is recording his mixes at high quality. When he plays back what he has recorded it is very quite but he can't adjust the recording levels to allow him to record it any louder. (Does that sentence actually make sense?!). But thanks anyway!

Check the volume settings in the control panel?

Pardon me for butting in, I assume he's using Magix Audio Cleaning Lab. Once recorded, the volume can be adjusted higher or lower by simply hovering the mouse over the line running through the centre of the graph in the Lab (that's what I call it anyway).
When an up/down arrow appears, left click, hold and move the line upwards to increase the volume. Release, play the music, keep doing this until a satisfactory level has been reached.
