speaker problems

Hi have had to use system recovery and now my speakers don't work. You can hear a buzzing noise on them and this is not a hardware fault as all checked. Have down loaded the drivers that I thought I needed but again not working!!!
When I go onto control panel and click audio devices is says no audio device and wont let me do anything on there. The speaker icon has gone from my tray at the bottom right and nothing I do fixes the problem and what I found on the net hasn't helped. I'm going out of my mind, Please help!

Many Thanks

Re: speaker problems

When I had this, I reloaded the Mobo driver for the sound from the Mobo CD - Realtek something or other if I remember - and that sorted it.
Never understood what caused it tho.

Re: speaker problems

Thanks for replying, well i figured it out, first of all I have realtek that malfunctioned, so I downloaded a driver that was not signed by Microsoft, this caused a conflict with the original realtek driver, I then rolled back the realtek driver back to an older version and uninstalled the unsigned driver then used Microsoft update to update the realtek driver back to what it was (but working) and hey presto! I have sound. Simple really only taken me 4 hours to work out. now my eyes hurt from looking at my screen so long, and I think I have been put off of computers for a bit. Maybe I will try this "real world" thingy I heard about.

Cheers
