Extremely Serious sound problem!

Here's the problem:

I have no sound on my computer! It's nothing to do with the speakers though.
I found out that it has something to do with my 'Multimedia Audio Controller'.
All my other sound drivers work but on device manager the only thing with a exclamation mark is the 'Multimedia Audio Controller'.
I uninstalled and reinstalled but my computer can't find the driver. I downloaded the driver from www.sis.com but that never worked, I tried updating my computer even!

Here is my 'Multimedia Audio Controller' specifications:

Device Description Type
SiS 7012 Audio Device PCI

Can someone help me please?

Re: Extremely Serious sound problem!

Please be patient. The obvious reason as to why you haven't had a response is that no-one has come up with a solution for you, as yet. Hopefully, a response will be forthcoming.

Re: Extremely Serious sound problem!

Have you tried Direct X diagnostic tool - click start, then Run then type DXdiag in

The tools seems simple enough there (not an expert myself, picked this up somewhere recently)

When did it stop working, what was going on? What OS are you running? Can you try system restore, could it have been a corrupt file and if so do you have original system disks?

Are you sure you have the correct driver file, I've had no end of problems with SIS drivers on my brothers old machine, had to get the driver pack for the motherboard from the manufacturers website in the end in order to get the correct driver to work.

Another thing you, can try is, find the sound file on your XP disc and install it, i did when i had no sound and it came back.

Re: Extremely Serious sound problem!

I'm using the same PC and it was fixed via an alternative route. But thanks anyway, and yes Realtek was the audio driver.
