How do I stop Windows Media Player rearranging my music files and folders? I'd like WMP to show my music files as they are arranged in My Music folder whether they have the correct file name or not or if they are in the correct album/folder or not. Cheers. Bill. |

Hi Billweb Have a look here at the links for powertoys. I had a read through the M$ blurb and it seems as though you should be able to set your playlists as you want them. |

Thanks TCN, I've had a look at PowerToys for Windows Media Player for Windows XP and found this: PowerToys Skin The PowerToys skin enables you to manage the Media Library in Windows Media Player in a variety of ways. The skin includes seven playlist management functions. Function:Turn all albums in the library into playlists Description:Creates a playlist for every album in Media Library. Function:Make a playlist for every artist listed in the library Description:Creates a playlist for every artist in Media Library. Will this arrange my albums/folders just as they are in My Music folder? I'd like to make sure before I install PowerToys for Windows Media Player and set it to the above functions. When Windows Media Player rearranged all my music files, I deleted a lot of stuff because many of the folders only had one or two files in them and I didn't know where they came from. Cheers. Bill. |

Hi Bill Quote:from M$ website. As I understand it, you can use the library management wizard to arrange your music on WMP any way you want. If you want it to reflect the sequence that you have in your "My Music" folder then you will have to use the wizard to set this up in WMP. WMP shouldn't be rearranging the files you have stored on your hard drive. It simply looks to find where you have MP3,WMA etc files stored and points to them. When it's open, select a track and right click on it and select "properties" and it displays the path and location of that track. |
