Re: Quintessential Player

I am now using this player and like it, but what do I do if I want to play music via Winamp which has been my main player up to now.. My music files now have the Quintessential icon next to them and if I right click I am only given the choice to play in Quintessential.

I would like to have the choice. So can I do something about it?

Still cannot find a solution to converting .wma files to mp3!

Re: Quintessential Player

I think that once you have associated mp3's with quintessential they won't play in winamp. they will automatically play in quintessential.

Re: Quintessential Player

and does this mean I can never play them using Winamp or any other player ever again?

I had imagined you could configure the files to play in whatever player you chose.

Bricat, I do like Quintessential, but wished I had known that it would take away my choice of player.

Re: Quintessential Player

The best way forward I would think is to remove all associations. Open the options in all media programs and remove all the associations with MP3 files.

From within Windows Explorer go to the View menu and select Folder Options. Click the File Types tab and scroll down the list looking for MP3 and remove the associations listed.

Now if you click on a MP3 file you will be asked what program you want to use to open it with. Choose your program, but make sure the 'Always use this program' remains unticked. You should also be able to open the files from within which ever media player you want.

Re: Quintessential Player

I have Quintessential, Winamp and Media Player and never experienced any problems like you. I use Quintessential to rip Cd's and then play in whatever I choose. I think its a file association problem as Jonny says. Personally I can't see much difference between Quintessential and Winamp, but then again what do I know.

Re: Quintessential Player

sorry i didn't explain it very well, i just meant that as long as they were associated with quintessential they wouldn't play in winamp, follow jonny's instructions and you'll be sorted.
