Re: mp3 doesnt hold as many songs as it should

It depends on the bitrate. This is the quality, so the higher the itrate, the larger the file. When you read about an mp3 player being able to hold a certain amount of tracks, they usually assume they are 128kbps bitrate.

Hi cars201.

Keep questions to the forum, not PMs, so others can learn from the answers.

You can change your bitrate using MediaMonkey free version

Not really sure. Does your mp3 player show up as a removable drive in My computer, when connected to your PC? Have a look and see if there's anything else on there.

Re: mp3 doesnt hold as many songs as it should

Is it possible that's it? That's all it can store? What's the make & model of said device?

I'm not sure and will await Richie's response for that. Remember that once the tracks are reduced you can't put back what's taken away.

Right-click on the removable disk and select Properties to see how much space it says you have in total, and how much is used.

If you double-click on it does it list anything else besides the tracks?

Re: mp3 doesnt hold as many songs as it should

Richie, Cars201 has told us that some of the tracks are 320kbps bitrate, hence the capacity being reached.

Re: mp3 doesnt hold as many songs as it should

D'oh! That's what happens when you reply to the emailed link, rather than reading all the previous posts first.

Anyway, launch Media Monkey.

In the left pane, click on your mp3 player and all the tracks should be listed in the right pane.

Look at the bitrate of the tracks, to the right.

Right-click on the ones that are OK and select remove (this will only remove them from MM's list, not your player).

Now you should be left with the ones you want to change the bitrate.

Select all tracks by holding down Ctrl and pressing A.

Click Tools > Convert Audio format.

Click the Settings button and change the top drop-down box to 128.

Cllck OK, then OK and leave it to do its stuff.

Re: mp3 doesnt hold as many songs as it should

hi richie, thanks for taking the time for am imbicile like me, i do appreciate it, originally i had 131 tracks using 51% memory, then i altered my tracks to 128,or 96 bitrate as suggested and found that i can only download 131 tracks @44% memory , somebody mentioned sub folders , does this mean anything to you

Re: mp3 doesnt hold as many songs as it should

Just because you don't know how to do something doesn't make you an imbecile.

Some mp3 players use sub-folders to manage the songs.

Try the My Computer route again. Plug in your mp3 player and wait for it to show. Double-click on it to view the contents. If you have folders showing then yes, you have sub-folders.
