media player sits in task bar

can anyone please tell me why, when I open media player, it just sits in my task bar area. It does play the track (souds very crappy though)but when I try to open it to full screen the little icon thing just zooms off the screen. I've tried reinstalling it and the same thing happens. by the way this is a fairly new phenomenon.
please help a pc thickie someone.

Sounds like it is mini player mode
In the mini Player in the taskbar, click the Restore button.
The Player will return to the mode it was in previously.
Of all the Things I've lost, I miss my mind the most
