Onspeed

System XP SP2 , Wanadoo anytime.

Hi,

I have bought onspeed on a disk but not yet
installed it. Does anyone have experience of installing and
using onspeed , is there anything I should be wary of ?

Thanks Pete.

Re: Onspeed

My ISP (BT Yahoo!) gave its customers Onspeed free some time ago, so I tried it. It did load pages faster, but I couldn't get on with it at all, although many people like it. Since you've got it, try and see if you like it. If you don't, you can always uninstall it.

Re: Onspeed

Thank you both for your replies and the link to the article.
I can get broadband where I live, but as I don't download much
music etc. I intend to stay with dialup .
So for me this compression technology seems a
good next step to try.

Peter.

Re: Onspeed

I just had a look on the Wanadoo website, the "anytime" price of £14.99 is the same as many basic BB packages (including one from Wanadoo if you want to stick with them). I have used Onspeed in the past, and it is good, but it doesn't compare with REAL broadband. My advice would be, find a BB package from a reputable ISP (everyone will have their own opinion on this!) that offers FREE modem and activation, and go for it. The only thing you will probably have to do is get a contract for a year's service.

Re: Onspeed

I totally agree with Braindead. OnSpeed used to use the term 'nobrainer' in their advertising. It certainly is a 'nobrainer' paying for their software when you can get real broadband for the same amount you currently pay. Why on earth would you want to do that? Going with a Broadband connection also frees up your telephone line so it's not constantly engaged.

Re: Onspeed

I agree with you totally. If I could get Broadband here, I'd sign up like a shot!

Re: Onspeed

I agree with all that has been said and have to say that just because you don't do large downloads shouldn't stop you from signing up for Broadband. In fact you will probably download more than you think. What with anti virus updates on a daily basis, Spyware updates at least once a week and Windows updates monthly etc. Plus you will find your experience of the web more pleasureable.

Get it and get it now.

Re: Onspeed

^^That sucks!!! Any idea if you will be able o receive it any time soon? I thought they were trying to get the whole of Britain covered by the end of the year so you may get it soon. Fingers crossed!

Petedb, I am another that agrees with the opinions already expresses here, getting BB won't cost much if any more then your paying now.

Re: Onspeed

I've got no idea when I'll be able to get BB, it would be nice if it's possible by the end of this year. I won't be holding my breath!
