I signed up to the Vodafone offer of a free modem, up to 7.2MB connection for £15 a month and I was conned. When I checked their web page it tested my post code for signal strength and it showed as excellent. However, since I got the modem with sim my top conection is less than dial up. Worse still, almost every page is blocked by Vodafone (something to do with content control), but after several emails and phone calls they refuse to remove it, nor will they do anything about connection speed. The content control is supposed to protect under 18's, they refuse to accept that I am 55 years of age. I am still under the 14 day return option so they will be getting it returned. Do yourself a favour and go with an outfit that can deliver, as vodafone certainly can't.

Quote: I personally think Vodafone's content control is a brilliant idea. It prevents children from being able to access unsuitable content. All you have to do to get it removed is dial 191 & have an active credit card (charges £1 but gives you £2.50 airtime credit) or take proof of I.D. in to a store. Anyone can say that they are 55 on an email...... |

Just found this 'thread' because my Vodafone dongle arrived yesterday. Initially I wasn't happy because after a day's work it told me I had reached my 50mb limit. I too thought I had been conned. But they were most helpful on the phone. The chap told me they send them out like that but to go to 'settings' and in the usage box type 3000mbs instead of the 50. Done that and it's fine. Be real handy on holiday. . |
