I have been working with this problem for two weeks now without success. I had no problem copying from Yahoo email and pasting into a MS Word document prior to this. I did not intentionally add any programs to my computer and no new programs are showing in the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs. I am running SpySweeper, Norton Internet Security and clean and repair my system daily with a program called Advanced Windows Care V2. This last program removes all temporary files from the system. I have repaired Word two times. I have automatic updates on for Windows XP (Home Edition), SpySweeper, Norton, and Office. The day my copy and paste stopped working I received an update from Office (It might only be a coincidence?). I have tried to delete and also rename the Normal.dot file. I can copy from Yahoo email with no problem. It copies to the Office Clipboard without incidence. If I copy to the Notepad it copies easily as well. When I try to paste this copied information into Word, the Word program says that the Program is not Responding. I can paste into Publisher, Powerpoint and even Excel; therefore, I feel the problem lies within the Word program itself. I have tried to restore to four different times without success, leading me to believe that maybe some undetected virus attached to some supporting Word Software or embedded into the registry. With three or four programs looking at this virus scenerio how could it have been missed? I need this function badly and the Ctrl keys don't work either. Oh, one last thing: I can copy the information from the notepad and paste it instantly into Word after I copied from the email to Notepad. I cannot copy from the Office Clipboard; it is just blanked out on the taskbar and the right click and movement across the information on the clipboard will not highlight. I have a Compaq Preario desktop computer with an AMD Sempron 3100+ CPU. With 1GB memory, three harddrives and loads of security and cleanup software, how can the system have a virus? LOL... I run IE7; I just upgraded from the previous explorer (both the old and new version had the same copy and paste problem.). I upgraded because I thought that maybe IE was the problem. Can someone suggest another step to repair this most needed copy and paste function? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
