my sons computer, dell latitude d610, was running very slowly upon returning from college - it had also aquired some adware on the desktop and was no longer able to connect to the interenet wirelessly - i thought i'd use the programs I used to get rid of my laptops adware my husband had messing up his desktop portion - started ok but then gave me a weird error when going into safe mode - the second time - "windows – delayed write failed windows was unable to save all the data for the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\SysEvent.evt. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere." i was able to run smitrem & ewido but not adware se - it locked up -i also downloaded, on another computer the wireless card driver and re-installed it using my flash drive - then it booted me out of safe mode and wouldn't go back in - each time it starts to - goes to a blue screen with writing but it's gone so quickly i can't read it and then it tries to restart normally but when it gets to the login screen (which now looks like the classic screen instead of the xp style it was set to - i type the password and it just sits - literally forever. i can only shut down by holding the power button or taking the battery out. how can i get logged back in here - any ideas - he'll kill me if he loses all his music and school items. help. thanks beth |
