add a contact in windows mail

i know this is going to sound stupid, but...........
i used to do this by opening contacts and there was a tab saying ' add contact'.
all very straight forward. that tab is now nowhere to be seen. i can double click on a contact to edit their details or click on an incoming mail to add them to contacts, but i cannot work out now how to add a contact from scratch.
pls help, it's driving me mad!!!
