Re: Vista SP1 - My PC Is Now Silent

Thank you BUT I am too afraid to do ANYTHING at this point. I'm staying in the pre-SP1 mode until either I pay someone $200 an hour to come to my house and upgrade to SP1 and fix this RealTek mess or - I hope to GOD that SP1 doesn't install autmatically and I never hear another sound out of my speakers because I just cannot relate to what you are telling me. I don't even know where my RealTek control panel is - and I know you're trying to be helpful, but I am too non-savvy to even attempt to do all this stuff. How do I know which RealTek driver is the one I'm supposed to choose for my pc (a Cisnet, whatever that is - you sure get what you pay for). I'm freaked that I will chose the incorrect one, download it, then my entire computer dies or something. If I ever do find the Realtek control panel and "mess with it" (what a scary thought for someone who is already clueless) - that could be the beginning of the end. I don't know what I'm doing. "Analogue panel" What? If YOU got frustrated with this issue, you've got to know how I feel. I'll tell you how: I liked my IBM Selectric III typewriter JUST FINE. I am still steaming at M/S for putting out this update that "flattens" (whatever that means) out my drivers - I never knew the term "driver" until a week ago. THIS IS AN F'ING NIGHTMARE. I do appreciate your trying to help us/me - but I'll be 61 years old in an hour and a half, I grew up with manual typwriters, and this is all WAY OVER MY HEAD.

Honest to God, I cannot even find my Realtek control panel. WHERE IS IT? I right click on the icon at the bottom of the screen - no control panel there. I am losing my mind over this
